Frequently Asked Questions
What training methods do you use?
I use modern, evidence based training methods that focus on understanding and motivating your dog through positive reinforcement. I do not use harsh or punitive techniques — instead, I aim to build trust, confidence, and clear communication between you and your dog.
Do you work with all breeds and ages?
Yes! I work with dogs of all breeds, sizes, and ages — from young puppies just starting out, to adult dogs and seniors. Every dog is unique, and my training plans are always tailored to suit their individual personality and needs.
Where are you based, and what areas do you cover?
I’m based in Peacehaven, East Sussex, and I work with clients across the surrounding areas including Brighton, Newhaven, Seaford, Eastbourne, Lewes and I can offer Training & Behaviour consultations in West Sussex and neighbouring counties (Travel costs may apply)
I also offer online sessions, so distance doesn’t have to be a barrier to support.
What’s the difference between training and behaviour work?
Training focuses on teaching specific skills or manners — like recall, walking nicely on the lead, or settling calmly.
Behaviour work looks deeper into why your dog behaves a certain way — such as reactivity, anxiety, or aggression — and involves assessment, understanding emotional triggers, and developing a structured behaviour modification plan.
How long will it take to see results?
Every dog and situation is different. Some issues can improve in a few sessions, while others — especially complex behaviour challenges — take time, patience, and consistency. My goal is to give you the knowledge and tools you need for lasting progress and a stronger bond with your dog.
What qualifications do you have?
I hold a Level 6 in Applied Canine Behaviour Management through the Cambridge Institute of Dog Training and Behaviour (CIDBT), the education department of the Canine and Feline Behaviour Association (CFBA), Advanced Higher Certificate in Dog Training and Behaviour (Professional Practice) and I am also proud to be a Master Professional Dog Training Instructor with the Guild of Dog Trainers and have completed extensive study, research, and practical work over several years.
Do you offer online consultations?
Yes! I offer online training and behaviour consultations for clients who prefer remote support or live outside my local area. These sessions work well for advice, follow-up appointments, or behaviour discussions.
Can you help me choose the right dog for my family?
Absolutely. If you’re thinking about getting a puppy or rescue dog, I can offer pre-adoption advice to help you choose the right breed or individual for your lifestyle — and guide you on how to prepare your home and family for their arrival.
What should I expect from a behaviour consultation?
Before your session, I’ll send you a short questionnaire to learn more about your dog and their behaviour. During the consultation, we’ll discuss your dog’s history, daily life, and challenges in detail.
You’ll receive a written behaviour plan with practical steps and follow-up support to help you move forward confidently.
How do I book a session?
You can get in touch via the Contact page, email, or social media to discuss your needs and arrange your first session. I’ll be happy to advise on the best option for you and your dog.
